India has been ranked at the 116th position in the latest edition of the World's Bank annual Human Capital Index that benchmarks key components of human capital across the countries.
However, India's score increased to 0.49 from 0.44 in 2018, as per Human Capital Index report released by World Bank on Wednesday.
Last year India ranked 115 among 157 countries.This year's list covers 174 countries.
About Human Capital Index :
The Human Capital Index is a report prepared by the World Bank. The index was first published in October 2018 and ranked 157 counties.
- The Human Capital Index measure which countries are best in mobilizing the economic and professional potential of of its citizens.
- The index measures how much capital each country losses through lack of education and health.
- It range from 0-1 where 1 means maximum potential is reached.
Despite progress, In India a child born could expect to achieve just 49% of their potential human capital, relative to education and health.
