Paytm's parent company ''One97 Communicatios'' claim that domestic Telcos not preventing Phishing, that were taking place through their networks.
It claimed that the Telcos are not doing enough to stop phishing as they are granting Telemarketers assess to database before proper checking and verifying the telemarketer.
Now the court has sought responses from the Telcos and TRAI ( Telecom Regulatory Authority of India ) in the matter.
*Phishing is a form of internet fraud, where a person falsely pretend to be a representative of the organisation calls up a customer in order to extract personal and private data from the customers. The details obtained are then used to withdraw money from their bank accounts.
The company said that phishing was ultimately impacting the Paytm's customers as well as loosing of trust that customers had on digital
payment platforms.
Paytm said in its petition that unregistered telemarketer were allowed by the Telcos to
operate and engage in unsolicited phone calls pretending to be Paytm staff.
