Tension at LG Polymers plant as villagers protest demanding its closure

Tension prevailed at the LG Polymers at RR Venkatapuram village near here as villagers staged a protest on Saturday demanding immediate closure of the plant. A styrene vapour the leak fromplastics manufacturing plant caused the death of 12 people on Thursday.

Tens of villagers, who were provided shelter in Visakhapatnam after the vapour leak, returned to the village on Saturday morning, raising slogans against the factory management and demanding its closure

The police tried to prevent the villagers from going near the plant but the latter ran past the former and staged a it- in protest near the factory gate.

Vistara Airlines As a measure to preserve jobs and conserve cash flow, Vistara airline on Tuesday decided to send its senior employees on leave without pay for the month of May and June. It will affect around 1,200 employees in senior grade. Earlier the airline has sent its employees on compulsory leave without pay for 3 days between April 15 and April 30.
