Facebook to acquire GIF website Giphy
Giphy will become a part of Instagram, the photo-sharing site owned by Facebook. Its GIF library, which may integrate with other apps, are going to be further integrated into Instagram and other Facebook-owned apps
Facebook Inc is acquiring Giphy, a well-liked website for creating and sharing animated images, or GIFs, Facebook said during a blog post on Friday.
The cost, which wasn't disclosed, was placed at around $400 million by news website Axios. The companies didn't immediately answer requests for comment. The announcement comes at a time when the most important social media network is under scrutiny from regulators over antitrust concerns.

"People will still be ready to upload GIFs; developers and API partners will still have an equivalent access to GIPHY's APIs; and GIPHY's creative community will still be able to create great content," said Vishal Shah, Instagram's vice chairman of product, within the blog post.
"We will still make GIPHY openly available to the broader ecosystem," Giphy said during a post on blogging website Medium. Facebook's blog post said 50% of Giphy's traffic comes from Facebook's apps, with half that coming from Instagram.
